I rode with PTC on the River Trails from Pasadena to Long Beach. Bright shiny morning. Cool crisp air. Windy day. Head and cross winds on the ride down and tail and cross wind on the ride back.
Summary: 74.4 mi, 4:21:55 moving time, 1,427 ft. Flat-ish.
Peter, Me, Bob, Bryan, Lynda, David, Allen, Alvin, Gregg, Michel, Elizabeth, Dave, Kevin. Not pictured Peter, Jonathan.
Ride started at Velo Pasadena. Hrach (owner) opened up the store at 7am for us. Potty break, snacks, goo, chomps, fizz. Awesome. Thanks, Hrach. You rock. Peter was the ride leader. Great Job! We regrouped from beginning to end.

Snacks to start the day

Our VELO buddy Hrach

Ride Leader Peter (and mad scientist at JPL).

Michel (with fresh hair cut).

Rolling through Arcadia, I got a flat tire. First flat on my new Cannondale Supersix. Tire was super hard to get off the rim. Boy, am I glad I ride with mechanically handy friends. Thanks, Gregg! Michel donated a cartridge too, Thanks!
We entered the Upper Rio Hondo River Trail at the edge of Arcadia.
We take it down to Whittier Narrows Park. Transition to Lower Rio Hondo River Trail. Super Windy. Pushing hard and not going very fast.
Cross the bridge. Near Imperial Hwy, the Rio Hondo Trail merges with LA River Trail and follows the 710 fwy straight south to Long Beach.

Long Beach. It’s a Grind Coffee house. I got a banana, potty break. Refueled. Pics and took off.
Panorama shot (slightly distorted).
Cross winds were tricky on the way back. I felt some tail winds and that helped on the return trip.
Allen got a flat on the way back. Michel and Gregg were on it again. You guys rock.
Btw, we passed the Santa Anita Park, horse race track on the way back, in Arcadia.
Elizabeth said it was her longest ride! Good Job. She finished with all us. Well Done.
Later that afternoon, I returned to VELO for a PTC KIT Try on session. I need a new Tri top. That last one make me feel and look like a sausage, and not in a good way. I saw Joel, Corrina, Donna, LisaA, and MikeK.

Strava details: 11 trophies. not too bad, considering the wind really slowed us down.
