The forecast was 90F, we started early at 7am from Encanto Park in Duarte. We had great weather. It was not hot during the climb, on the return trip back, the rollers by the dams were hot.
Clockwise for top left: Luis, Steve, GT, Bill, Gregg, Lynda, Joe, Michael. Kelsey and Kin arrived 2 seconds later. We went across the bridge and north on the bike path.
At the end of the bike path, we continued up Highway 39, through San Gabriel Mountains National Monument, Angeles National Forest. There was a LOT of head wind. Check out the grasses blowing.
First marker is East Fork.
Couple more miles is West Fork and the path to Cogswell Dam. After Cogswell, it’s 13 more miles up the mountain.
Water stop at Coldbrook
Bryan and Shane caught up to us. They started at 7:30.
View of switchbacks and the Miraculous Rock
Peter and Rich caught up to us too.
We made it to the top, which is the sign, not the cafe. There seemed to be some discrepancy about that at the time.
Beautiful looking ride! Nice work!
