Carrie, Ryan, Trevor, Bill, Lynda, Ron, Gregg D, Joe, Mark M., Greg M., Phillip, Julie, Alvin, Julian, Mike W., Bob.

Mile 8: Picked up a few along the way to Encanto. Hopped on the San Gabriel River Trail for a short bit and turned off to Sierra Madre to go East.

Mile 0: We started at Sierra Madre. There was a lot of people there for Annual Mt. Wilson Trail Run. Cloudy day. Forecast said sun would come out. Crossed my fingers that we’d have good weather. Mt. baldy ride can be Cold or Hot. Turned out to be the Best weather to Mt. Baldy!

Mile 15: Turned up Glendora Mountain Road. Steep climb up to the climb. The gate was open to cars by not too many cars today. That was good. 5-9% climb. Steep switchbacks. Beautiful day for climbing. Sun wasn’t out quite yet and there was a cool breeze.

For Trevor, It’s an 8 mile climb from the Gate to the wall.

Mile 24: Top of GMR. Took a picture and kept going. Some guys flipped it. Ryan, Mike. We ran it some other friends at the top. Max.

Mile 25. A short descent then we veered right toward Mt. Baldy. 12 miles of climbing along the ridge. We broke through the clouds and it was gorgeous views for miles. Tiny bits of snow on the far off mountain tops. Green hills. Trees and wildflowers. Yellow, Orange, Purple. Up and up and up. There were tons of other cyclists out today. Never left lonely. Young bucks and old crews.

Mile 36. Short fast descent to the Village. Lots of cyclists at the Mt. Baldy village Lodge. They have a bottle filling fountain and a chest of ice! Went inside with club and had lunch. About noon time. Alvin had already ate his egg and pancakes. Gregg ordered Grilled cheese and that sounded good. Four of ordered grilled cheese too. Potty break and we headed back to civilization.

Mile 38. A couple of miles of climbing but mostly great descents with lovely mountain views. Got back to GMR. More descents. Top has some bumpy roads. But most of the descent has pretty good roads. The base roads in town are super bumpy. Back ti Encanto Pack and back to Sierra Madre. Whew. My legs were tired. Great way to start Memorial Day Weekend.
