Climbing day on the westside.
We started at Park across Pacific Coast Highway from Pepperdine University. Riding northbound, we climbed up Latigo Canyon, which is 6-8% steep and 7 miles long. The weather was cloudy. Could be cold, could be misty, could rain! We found out that it would be all of the above. Luckily I had my new PTC vest to keep me dry. The mist turned to drizzle turned to rain. We were pretty soaked by the top of Latigo. Rock Store descent was very wet. We took if slow. It’s one of my favorite descents. No pics cuz it was scary wet. Alvin had a mechanical with his shifters. We rode along Mulholland over to Stunt Canyon. Stunt is a shorter but steep climb, 3 miles, 8%. Fogged in at the top. Short descent and then climbing up Piuma, steep but short. Piuma descent is a 4 mile great descent. Ground was dry. That was good. On one of the hairpin turns Kirk went down and over a guard rail. He’s a tough cookie though. He got up and rode it out. He took quite a thumper on the chest, with the guardrail post.
