The ride started at Velo Pasadena. Hrach opened his store’s doors early for us. Potties, shopping, snacks, water. Bryan had 2 flats, cuz he hasn’t been riding much following his collerbone surgeries. The B group had about 10. We rolled through Arcadia and picked up the Upper Rio Hondo River Trail. The trail follows the water ways. No car traffic. Bike traffic was pretty light in the morning. In Whittier, we rode across Rosemead Blvd to Lincoln and picked up the Whittier Narrow Dam and the Lower Rio Hondo River Trail. Kirk had a flat. B-group separated into smaller groups. Michel, Bryan and Lynda caught up from the other flats. We continued down the river where it joins the LA River Trail. It rolls parallel to the 710 Fwy all the way into Long Beach. We went to our usual coffee shop on Pine Street, but it was closed. Luckily, there was a Starbucks across the street. Snacks, coffee, and lots of stories were had. Phil tried a Salted Watermelon GU. He was not a fan. Fortunately, the weather was perfect today. Gorgeous skies, a couple clouds. Cool and crisp, not hot on the way back. A light tail wind on sections both going down and coming back. That’s a treat! Kirk got another flat on the way back. Nail. We had snacks and more coffee at Starbucks back in Pasadena.
