66.2 miles, 5:45 moving time, 7,444 ft elevation. [This is a re-post from Joe’s blog]
While it was heating up in LA, we headed up the mountains and found perfect weather. Sometimes Cloudburst can be unpredictable and unseasonably cold. Today was a short sleeve jersey day!
We started early at dawn, a beautiful, color-washed dawn.
Bryan, Peter, Kirk, Steve, Yuri, Phil, Lynda, Amy, GT, Luis, Charles, Mike, Dino, Mike, Richard, Steve, Bill, Dino’s friend, David’s friend and Joe
with David, Haroon.
Also on ride: Shane, Elizabeth, Derek, Michel, Eugene. Steep climb out of La Canada up the Angeles Crest Highway 2.
Lynda found a snake, which was already run over.
Regroup at Red Box
Regroup at Newcombs Ranch, a biker road house. We had a snack and checked out the Ducadi’s.
We were still ascending to Cloudburst, while the A group was descending. I caught Dino, Luis, Alvin, Steve zooming by.
Snow ball fight!
Cloud Burst Summit. 7018 ft.
As we descended back into town, it warmed up to 95F. Whew!
