Coding Camp at CalTech

The kids went to CalTech for one week of coding camp with iD Tech. They learned to program in Java. The age appropriate teen class had 8 students, 6 of which were our kids and their friends. On the last day, the parents got to see what the kids have been up to. It was a hot summer day on campus. The instructors gave each student some nice words of encouragement and a diploma for Java. We walked into the computer labs, which were in a nice new technology building. They showed us the programs they made. Simple games with random number generators and trivia. Afterwards, we walked over to the Athenaeum, which is a fancy faculty restaurant. The upstairs room is where Albert Einstein stayed during his summers in Pasadena in the 1950’s. You can even stay in the Einstien Suite.

PS. Although my wife and I went to UCLA, we took our wedding pictures at CalTech. It’s such a beautiful campus.

To thank the kids for putting up with coding camp, we had a shake at the Fair Oaks Pharmacy.
