Cousin Red Egg Party

My cousins Colin and Holly celebrated a red egg party for their daughter Emma. Red egg parties are traditional Chinese birthday parties for a one year old baby, where the whole clan gets together and eats and meets the baby. Emma was born the Year of the Tiger, and the thousand folded cranes are a traditional Japanese commemorative crafty decoration. Colin is Chinese and Japanese.

Colin’s family always makes the best home cooked meals. They made the family favorites. The shredded chicken Chinese salad. The thick spaghetti with lots of bacon. They even had the printed recipes for us to take home. They also had lots of fried chicken and a roasted pig, which is another traditional Chinese fixture at Red Egg parties.

Happy Birthday, Emma!
