Mile 0: La Canada Starbucks. While some of the Club were riding the Ojai Century today, we met in La Canada for Mt. Wilson Ride. Sunny and perfect weather. Short sleeves and short pants. Peter was sporting his Bike Pack gear. He was practicing riding with full packs in prep for his Bike Pack Trip later this summer from Vancouver to Los Angeles along the Pacific Coast. Wahoo. Today’s ride is straight the mountain from the start. The elevation profile shows it. First mile out of the neighborhood is 8-10% steep climbing.

Mile 9: Clear Creek. The next 9 miles are up Angeles Crest Hwy 2. Lots of car traffic. Constant grade 5-8%. Sun was out and I was working up a sweat. All the mountains were very green from all the rain this winter. Very pretty. Mile 9 is the crest for Clear Creek. All the cars traffic went turned off to Angeles Forest Hw, since the Angeles Crest Hwy is closed at Red Box.

Mile 14: Red Box. A short descent from Clear Creek and then more climbing and switchbacks. 5 miles up to Red Box.

Mile 19: Mt. Wilson. The 5 mile climb from Red Box to Mt. Wilson is narrower and steeper. it winds along the north side of the mountain. Very scenic. Quiet without all the auto traffic. I flipped it and went sailing down hill.

Great ride today.
