Mile 0: Start at Peck Road Water Conservation Park. Since the dam was full, the bike path was flooded to the Arcadia Par 3. Plenty of parking and potties. Nice starting spot. It’s the beginning of the Upper Rio Hondo River Trail. Weather was awesome. Sunny and cool. It was a beautiful day for a long ride.
Mile 7: End of Upper Rio Hondo River Trail. Crossed Rosemead Blvd and picked up Lower Rio Hondo River Trail. Group was zipping along. Somehow I was on the front group with Gregg, Julian, Rob, Richard, and Brian.
Mile 16: Merge onto Los Angeles River Trail. Team kept up a zippy pace. Bert and Elsa flipped it.
Mile 28: Starbucks at Long Beach for refueling and regrouping. Rode along Ocean Blvd and over 2nd St.
Mile 35: Got on San Gabriel River Trail. Tailwinds north. Wahoo.
Mile 44: There was a 5k or 10k along the bike trail. Crazy with runners and bikers in both directions. Nuts.
Mile 55: Warmed up in Rico Rivera at the Tunnel of Doom. But still manageable.
Mile 57: Over the dam and transitioned back to Rio Hondo River Trail and back up to Peck.
Mile 64: Great Ride! and not too hot. Dodged a heat bullet. Tacos and cervezas at Guidanos on Valley. Yum!
