Perfect Fall Day in SoCal. Sunny cool morning, deep blue skies.

Mile 0: Start from Sierra Madre Starbucks.

Mile 8: Pick up at Encanto Park Duarte

Mile 10: San Gabriel River Trail North. End. Keep on Hwy 39, Azusa Canyon. Light head winds. Sun was a bit lower in the fall.

Mile 16: Climb along the dams. Stopped to check in on the Eagle Nest in the Tree. Nobody home today.

Mile 20: Passed by East Fork.

Mile 21: West Fork. Road closed to auto traffic. Open to cyclists and hikers. Lots of construction trucks parked along the road. Beautiful tree lined creek. Ride upstream along stone canyon. Really nice 7 mile false flat,

Mile 27: Sharp, steep, noticeable incline. Last gate closed. Didn’t get to dam. Flipped it and descended slowly and carefully. Steel plates bridged the runoff gutters. asphalt chewed up by tractor marks.

Mile 35: Warmed up on the climbs.

Mile 55: Coffee and snacks at Starbucks. Great ride.
