PTC Video Interview Series. Gail Hubbard.

Gail Hubbard is a genetic counselor, originally from Maryland. Following her work westward, she and Neil came to California.

When she was younger, Gail played lots of contact sports. Running was always part of her training. Later, while she wanted to get more active, Neil saw LA Marathon on TV and said, ‘hey we can do that’. So, they ran it.

Gail and Neil sought out local runners to train with. They found the Pasadena Pacers and started running. Pacers meet outside the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center. So, one day they said to themselves, ‘hey, that’s a really beautiful pool. we should go check it out.’ So, they swam. Gail met friends in the Pasadena Triathlon Club through the Pacers. So, they did Ironman Arizona.

Lesson Learned: “Nothing is impossible. Start small and take little steps, and you’ll meet goal.”

Started as a runner. Started swimming, and found it’s her favorite part.

Tips for Newbies: “Always have fun. At it’s basics, triathlon is stuff you got to do as a child in the summer. swim in the water, ride your bike and run around.”
