Ride Report. Rose Bowl – Clear Creek – Red Box

48.7 mi, 3:57 moving time, 5,427 ft elevation, 21 trophies.

The weather has changed, even in LA. Philip and I started from SoPas and met up with the Club at the Rose Bowl at 7:30am. It was 50°F. That’s cold for SoCal Riders. We flew up to La Canada and picked up a couple more folks. Then, it was straight up Hwy 2 Angeles Crest Hwy. First stop is Clear Creek, 9 miles with a steady 6-7% climb. Short regroup. Red Box is second stop. 6 more miles, 6-9% climb. The destination was Mt Wilson. I made half way to Mt. Wilson on the last stretch. I was not having a good day. GI distress (that a nice way to say I had to flip it and make a bio break back at Red Box). While I recovered and let my belly settle, I met up with Haroon and Fang. We went down the mountain together. What a great descent. We grabbed a quick snack at Panera and the main group caught up with us.

Mike, Amy, Philip, Kirk, Paul, Jason, Luis, Ben, Jonathan, Haroon, Fang, and me. Later: DaveB, Gregg.
