In the afternoon, we toured UC Santa Barbara. Enrollment of 24,000 students, this is a moderate sized UC school. The Gouchos are in Goleta, just north west of Santa Barbara. The school is on the beach. There is a lagoon on campus and the marine school is adjacent to the bluff above the Pacific.
We joined the standing room only admissions info meeting. Then joined one of the 7 campus tour groups, with at least 26 folks in each. Campus housing: dorms and dining options. Beach volleyball. Lots and lots of bikes. Flat campus is easy for bike traffic. Bell tower in the middle. Three colleges: Engineering, Letters and Sciences and Creative Studies. Nobel laureates. Sports. Research. State school look and feel. All the UC stuff is there.
