Swim Report – Belmont Shores

4,525 yd (2.6 miles), 1:26 moving time.

The Club joined more friends at Long Beach’s Belmont Shore, early on a overcast but warm Sunday morn. Even though I’m not signed up for a long course Ironman, I do love long, open water swims with my friends. Some of the full Ironman man crew started early at 7am, while the rest of us started at 8am. The water was warm. I was sweating inside my wetsuit. I followed Kirk, PeterD. The first 1000 yds. was steady. The sun started cutting through the clouds. I picked up the pace on the backside straightaway. I felt great cutting through the water. I even caught up to Peter. For the final stretch into the beach, I took a long outside line which added some time and distance in the long run. After the swim, we all gathered at Small Cafe down the street for a brunch. Yum! My son and his friend joined us for the beach day. Mostly, they wandered along the beach, catching Pokemon.
