Saturday Ride. River Trails.
64.4 miles (+2 miles that I forgot to turn on the Garmin), 3,278 ft elevation, 4:25 moving time. 50 Strava trophies.
Sierra Madre – Encanto – San Gabriel River Trail – Rio Hondo River Trail – Chantry Flats.
I rode from home to the start in Sierra Madre. I met Lynda in Pasadena, since she rides from her home in Eagle Rock.
Good crew rode with us today. 2 packs. A group and B group. I rode with the B group. The ride got a little bit of rain sprinkles at the Santa Fe Dam. The river trails were flatter and faster. This was the first ride for me since Vineman. I think my body is still recovering. Climb up Chantry hurt. 8-10% on the first couple miles then 6-% for miles 3-4. That is what we call a noticeable incline. Coming down Chantry was fast and cooled me off since it was cloudy. We stopped at Starbucks to chit chat and have a snack. During the ride home, my quads were starting to ache. There’s a big hill on the way back to my house in SoPas. One way over is 0.5 miles at 6-8%. Another is 0.25 miles at 15-20%. I opted for the shorted and steeper.

Santa Fe Dam. We got sprinkling of rain. That was unexpected.
Climb up Santa Anita to Chantry Flats. 8-10%.
