The Club rode down from Sierra Madre to Long Beach on Sept 24th. It was a good day for a long ride. We had some cloud cover in the morning which kept the heat off. The winds were moving around, some times favorable, sometimes cross. We caught the beginning of the Rio Hondo River Trail at the little Arcadia Par 3 Golf course. The usual course was detoured by an overflow of runoff, held at the Santa Anita wash. I suspect the wash is full from the heat wave last week melting off snow in the mountains, and the water is finally making its way through the hills and basin. On our way south, we rode around Peck Park to the bike trail. Michel and a friend were bringing up the rear. We had a quick snack at Starbucks in Long Beach on Magnolia and then headed back. The group split into multiple groups by speed. I rode with MikeW, and RobE. On the way back, we walked down the stairs and rode across the face. Then, through a convenient hole in the gate.
