Ride Report – Glendora Mountain Road (GMR) – Mt Baldy

54.2 miles, 4:03 moving time

On a cool crisp November morning, the Club rode up Glendora Mountain Road. Lynda, Mark, and I started at Sierra Madre and then picked up Sven, Mike, Blake, Gregg, and GT at Encanto Park in Duarte. We rode up San Gabriel River trail and then across on Sierra Madre to Glendora Mountain Road. We rode up the twisty steep front side of GMR and met at the top. Since I had some time constraints, I rode down the backside of GMR and back down along Highway 39 Azusa Canyon. Gregg, Sven, and Bob rode on to Mt. Baldy. Well Done!

It was the first time up GMR for some of the guys. What a treat! The descent down the backside of GMR is one of my favorite descents. Not too steep, low traffic, and and unbelievably beautiful mountain scenery. We grabbed a bit of water at the Cafe and headed down Highway 39.
