On a dark, cloudy morning, the mist hung heavy in La Canada, as the Club rode up Angeles Crest Highway. The mist got thicker and darker as we ascended the mountain through the clouds. Then, we broke through the clouds as we reached the crest at Clear Creek. As we took a couple selfies and waited for a couple riders, Ben, Bjeorn, and Grazi raced by us. The ride to to Red Box and Mt. Wilson were spectacular views of the lofty bed of clouds sitting on the valley below. The descent was cool, then cold, then dark again.

TMI (too much info) below: I had an unfortunate grumbly in my tumbly. After we passed Clear Creek, I made an emergency stop and made an unfriendly wilderness deposit. Hoping that the trouble-maker was left behind, I continued up. I wasn’t 100%, but kept going trying to keep track of a couple new members, who had never done the route before. However, round two of grumbly tumbly had to be dealt with at Red Box. For sure, the trouble maker was out now. I was not behind all the riders by 15 minutes. When I got to the top, Bjorn was descending. I missed the main group as we were probably circling the one way circle at opposite sides. When I got to the Cosmic Cafe, I didn’t see any body and descended down the hill. They found me back at Red Box, and I swore that I really had completed the climb and missed them somehow. Anyway, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
